Is A Blog Or Website Best For your Online Business?

Website or Blog? When I first started online (what seems like decades ago), I really didn’t have to answer this question.  Blogging really wasn’t an issue.  And in the beginning, bloggers were mostly blogging for fun… not for profit.

So the obvious choice for me was to create a website, and I did so with the help of Site Build It!

But now, things are different and you really have to DECIDE whether a blog or static website (or combination of both), is best for your online business.

First, let’s talk about technical issues…

Many people will tell you that blogging is easier than building a website for those new to the Internet.  And they are right, if you try to figure out how to build a website from scratch. But with a service like SBI or a program like XSitePro, building a website is just as easy.

So, I don’t think the technical issue has much to do with your decision to use one over the other for creating your online presence.

So, what is the issue?

I think the decision to create a blog or a static website for your online money making business is a “conceptual” issue.  It really depends on your personality and the concept of your web business.  At least that is how I look at it.

Websites and blogs are basically about the same thing: content!  Here are some of the questions you need to answer:

- How do you want to deliver your content?
- What do you want your content to achieve?
- Is the blog format or static site format better for your particular content delivery needs?

I look at it like this:

Blogging is more dynamic.  It is like a party. There are a lot of conversations going on.  Sometimes you are the one speaking.  Sometimes other people speak and you listen and react.  There is a lot happening in your niche, and your blog is where people come to find out what’s happening now.

So, if there is a lot of news and activity in your niche, a blog is probably the way to go.

A website on the other hand is more static.  There should be a ridged structure that takes the visitor from beginning, to middle to end.  Your website should have a definite purpose, and be set up to guide your visitor through the process to achieve your most wanted response.  It is like the private office where you go to make deals.

So, if your online business is more structured, like teaching a step-by-step process, then a static website might be a better choice. (For example, I use static websites for my sales sites because there is a definite step-by-step process to follow to complete the sales process).

So, you can see how having a blog and a website could go together.  Your interacting at the part (blog) and then you pull your visitor aside to “close the deal” (website).  At least that is how I look at it.

Here are some things to help you decide:

A) Here is an article by Ken Envoy, owner of Site Build It!  As you would expect, he makes a strong case for choosing a Theme-Based-Content-Site over a blog.

Blog or Build?  With Site Build It!… You Actually Do Both Automatically.  Beyond That, Is Full Blogging Right For You?

If you are looking for a proven plan AND all the tools necessary to build a content website to drive your online business, SBI is an excellent choice (and how I started online).

B) Some of you might have already decided you want a website and want to get busy building your own professional site… you just don’t know how.  If that is the case, this professional website building solution might be just what you are looking for!

XSitePro

Never before has creating a professional looking blog with all the bells and whistles been so easy… even with no HTML experience!

C) I’ve created a blog that teaches you how to set up, build, promote and monetize your own profit blog.  I expose my Ready-Load-Aim-Fire Formula for Profit Blogging.  There will be tons of free information on this site to help your blog profitably… if blogging is your choice.

BloggingBattlePlan.com

Making money with your blog does not happen by accident… you need a plan!  I reveal the strategy, tactics and tools needed to succeed in the competitive world of blogging.

So, is a blog or a website best for your online business?  Ultimately, only you can decide.  But I hope this post has helped you understand the difference between the two and helped you make your decision.

To Your Wealth,
Edward Lomax
