Yesterday I was going over my Top 10 Fitness Principles and explaining how you can apply them to Internet Marketing. Click here to read PART 1.
Let’s get started with:
Fitness Principle #6:
Workout Sessions Should Be Short, Intense And Organized
You should only enter the gym with a plan. Hanging out for hours, doing “a little bit of this and a little bit of that” does not produce results. Enter the gym with a purpose, get it done quickly and effectively and then go home. To do this, you must be organized and disciplined.
It is not about how long you spend in the gym, but the results you get from the time spent in the gym.
How this applies to Internet Marketing:
You MUST have a PLAN. Sitting in from of the computer for hours “surfing” means nothing. You must use your computer time to get very specific tasks completed to build and grow your online business. Plus, you must be disciplined enough to get the core tasks completed without getting distracted and wasting your time.
It’s not about how long you spend in front of the computer, but the RESULTS you get from the time on the computer.
Fitness Principle #7:
Track Progress By Keeping A Training Journal
You can’t just wing it in the gym. Every workout should strive to be a little better than the previous. And the only way to ensure you are progressing is to keep a journal. Write down what you want to track and evaluate your progress after every workout session.
How this applies to Internet Marketing:
You must track and test everything you do in your Internet Business. Small changes you make can dramatically boost your results. In every portion of your business, keep records of performance and try to progressively improve them over time.
Fitness Principle #8:
Physical Training Should Last A Lifetime
Becoming fit and maintaining your fitness for a long, healthy life is the main goal of your exercise, diet and lifestyle choices. So make choices that promote long term benefits. While short term goals are important to keep your training fun and focused… don’t lose sight of the big picture.
How this applies to Internet Marketing:
You should be striving to build an Internet Business that runs either on autopilot, or you can train someone else to run. The last thing you want is to get caught up in activities that only generate money when you are doing them. Because when you stop, so does the money.
Nobody wants to be a slave to their business, so create a REAL Internet Business that works even when you don’t.
Fitness Principle #9:
Training Should Be Effective, Interesting, Modifiable and Sustainable
Many people are doing activities that are not designed to get the results they want, hate what they are doing, are locked into a cookie-cutter program and won’t be able to benefit from the program long into the future. This is a recipe for disaster. If you are not getting the RESULTS you want, hate your workouts, can’t modify the workout to meet your needs and won’t benefit long-term… you WILL fail!
How this applies to Internet Marketing:
Focus only on the online activities that get RESULTS. Concentrate on topics that interest you. Add you uniqueness to your business to brand it as your own. And build a real business on a strong foundation of proven training, a strong website or blog presence and top quality communication tools to ensure your business stays profitable well into the future.
Fitness Principle #10:
Don’t Blindly Follow Others, Become Your Own Trainer
In the beginning, we all need to look to the proven professionals to learn how to train. But the truth is, you know you body better than anyone else. At some point, you need to add your input into fine-tuning your workout so you get the best workout for your body and goals.
How this applies to Internet Marketing:
At first, you should learn from the proven leaders who have gone before you. There really is no need to reinvent the wheel. But once you learn what they are doing and how to do it, think of what YOU can add to it to set yourself apart from everyone else in your industry. Your uniqueness is the secret ingredient that often determines success from failure.
So, there you have it. 10 Fitness Principle applied to Internet Marketing. Apply these principles to your online marketing activities and I’m sure you become more “financially fit” for your efforts!
